 Abraham Lincoln Birthplace Returns to Summer Park Hours


Summer hours are currently in effect at the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park.  The Birthplace Unit is open daily from 8:00am to 6:45pm and the Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek is open daily from 8:30am to 4:30pm.  Summer hours will run through Monday, September 5, 2016.


During the Summer season, the park will offer free Ranger-led walks and talks at the Birthplace and Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek every day.  A schedule of the offered programs is available online on the park’s website and at the Birthplace Visitors Center.  New featured programing includes living history programs offered at the Boyhood Home Unit starting the weekend of June 4, 2016 as well as a Pottery Program on the following Saturdays:  June 4th, July 2nd, August 6th from 10:00am to 3:00pm.  A special “Photographing Butterflies” program will be offered on Saturday, June 18th and August 13th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek.  Visitors who attend all programs are encouraged to bring water, bug spray, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes.  All programs are free and open to the public.

2016 Chamber Awards Nomination Form

Awards for Outstanding Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Business/ Professional Person, and Spirit Award will be selected based on nominees and forward to the Chamber Board of Directors. Deadline for Nominations will be April 26th, 2016.
  • The Outstanding Citizen Award is presented annually to a LaRue County Individual. The recipient is selected on the basis of significant contributions of service, devotion, involvement and responsibility to civic and service organizations, family and church. The recipient need not be a member of the LaRue County Chamber of commerce. Award recognition may be based on outstanding involvement during the award year alone, or may be for cumulative contributions over a longer period of time. In either case, final selection will be made on the basis of involvement that has contributed significantly to the life of the community.
  • The Outstanding Business/Professional Person Award is presented annually to a member of the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce. The recipient is selected on the basis of the following criteria: 1. Ability to organize and/or maintain a successful, growing business or professional concert. 2. Active participation and responsibility in community affairs. 3. Unselfishness in opening and /or promoting avenues of growth and development for other individuals or businesses. 4. Devotion to the family unit.
  • The Spirit Award is presented annually to a specific individual, group or organization in recognition of significant contributions that have improved the life and spirit of the community. Recipients are selected on the basis of involvement or accomplishment of an idea, goal or project, a good deed, or selflessness in the face of emergency. Award recognition may be based on events during the award year alone, or may be for cumulative effort.

January Chamber Luncheon: Snow Schedule

In the event of inclement weather, the Chamber will cancel the January luncheon if the LaRue County Schools are closed.


Kick off 2016 and join us for lunch! The January Chamber Luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20th at noon. Please note there is a change in location for this luncheon.
